Assisting with Mobility and Fine Motor Skills: COTAs help patients develop or regain fine motor skills, coordination, and strength needed for tasks such as buttoning clothes, grasping objects, and using adaptive equipment.

Educating Patients and Caregivers: They teach patients and caregivers how to use assistive devices (e.g., reachers, grab bars) and strategies to make everyday tasks easier and safer, promoting independence.

Monitoring Patient Progress: COTAs observe and record patient progress, adjusting techniques and providing feedback to the supervising OT to modify treatment plans as needed.

Home Environment Assessment: COTAs help identify barriers in the home environment, such as unsafe stairs or bathrooms, and recommend modifications to make the home safer and more accessible.

Therapeutic Exercises: They guide patients through exercises that improve mobility, coordination, and strength, essential for ADLs.
